SARAH JESSICA PARKER might be best known for playing chrome
hearts jewelry online fashion maven Carrie Bradshaw, but in reality the actress insists that she doesn't see herself as a style icon.
"It's not an identity that I connect to. I'm grateful if anyone says anything kind, and if they say something less kind, I take that as a part of anyone talking about you at all," she told People. "It's not how I think of myself and think it's probably the healthier approach."
The Vogue cover girl admitted that while fashion will always be a big part of her life, red carpet-worthy glamour doesn't necessarily follow through into her everyday routine.

"I love beautiful things and I'm privileged to borrow a beautiful dress. I feel really lucky and genuinely enjoy it. I feel like fashion has a proper place in my life," she said. "It's just not a reality [every day] - not when you have three kids and you go to the market and there are hungry people at home. You have a limited time to do it. There's just no time to let vanity enter into that."
The 47-year-old was speaking at the launch of the Barneys New York Electric Holiday campaign, which features a number of fashion names - including Parker - transformed into Disney cartoon characters. A quarter of the sales profits from the Electric Holiday merchandise collection is being donated to the American Red Cross to benefit victims of Hurricane Sandy.

"Everybody's in serious need and this is going to go on for a while," she said. "I've been giving back in a way that I feel I can and should, and it's not going to end in the next week. There's still going to be a lot of opportunity in the future to see how people are doing and what they need."
